When you request capture, SIDEWEAVE reads and stores a YouTube video’s URL, title, identifier, and playback time, or a general web page’s URL and title. You can add notes, reasons, tags, and next steps. While the panel is open, it temporarily checks the active tab type without using that classification to build browsing history.

Optional tools may store expressions, reading answers, review attempts, learning goals, observations, measurements, source comparisons and citations, scene analysis, or cooking ingredients, user-declared allergens, preparation, and execution records. It does not automatically collect source videos, audio, or online subtitles.

Files and images you choose

You explicitly select local learning videos, audio, and documents. Stored references may include a file name, type, size, modification time, fingerprint, and short passages you select. File paths and complete source files are not stored. You must reselect the same file to use it again. Local VTT/SRT subtitle files are read in the active session; online subtitles are not retrieved.

A background image you choose is an exception: JPG, PNG, or WebP image data (up to 5 MB) is stored as a local setting. Returning to the default background removes it from that setting.

Scene images and functionality checks

Saving a scene temporarily captures the visible tab and crops the video area into a downloadable PNG. There is no continuous recording. A functionality check or reading demonstration you explicitly start may download full workspace screenshots and a diagnostic report.

Downloads may contain visible notes and source details. Inspect them before sharing. They are not uploaded automatically. Downloaded files remain separate from entries and must be deleted by you.

Storage and transmission

Entries, revisions, tool results, settings, and deletion markers are stored in IndexedDB. Unsaved editor values may temporarily remain in a small local draft journal. The current extension does not send entries or learning content to a server and makes no application network requests. YouTube’s own processing is governed by its policies.

If you email support, your sender address, message, and attachments are used for support correspondence. They are separate from the extension’s local library and are processed by email services. Send only what is needed to resolve your inquiry.

Chrome permissions

activeTab provides temporary access to the tab you invoke. scripting reads requested player state or displays the workspace, and sidePanel opens the editor. Enabling the YouTube workspace can request optional access to YouTube. If granted, Chrome can retain it until you revoke it in extension settings. No required all-sites permission is declared.

Workspace files are declared accessible only on YouTube. This declaration does not grant access to unrelated sites. Explicit scene capture also uses the temporary tab access you grant.

Retention, deletion, and backups

Entries remain on the device until you delete them or clear extension storage or the profile. Hiding an entry retains revisions and tool records. Permanent deletion removes its body, revisions, and linked tool records, but keeps the entry ID, source ID, last revision, and deletion time to prevent accidental resurrection from backups.

You can export entries as JSON or Markdown and the full library as JSON. Backups and downloads may contain personal information; you control their storage and deletion. Background image settings, session files, and downloaded images are not the same scope as library backups.

Scope and changes

This policy covers the SIDEWEAVE extension and does not replace the existing healside.net shopping site’s policies. Experimental records are not certifications of grades, language ability, food safety, or medical suitability. This notice will be updated before accounts, sync, analytics, AI, or other new processing ships.
